X-Ray & Radiography

This was the first noninvasive imaging modality discovered by man. It is still the primary investigation when evaluating a patient. Badr Al Samaa group has installation of two 500mA high power units installed in all our medical facilities with dedicated experienced radiographers. All our X-Ray units are manufactured by Siemens, which is known for their low radiation dose systems. Apart from performing all routine radiography’s like chest X-ray, abdomen X-ray, bone X-rays, we also perform specialized conventional radiography investigations such as Intravenous Pyelography and Hysterosalpingography.

Diagnostic Sonography (Ultrasonography)
Ultrasonography is an ultrasound-based diagnostic imaging technique used for visualizing subcutaneous body structures including internal organs, tendons, muscles and joints for possible pathology or lesions. Ultrasonography is a safe investigation with no adverse effects. Obstetric sonography is routinely used during pregnancy. A specialized type of ultrasonography known as doppler imaging helps to assess vascular structures and analyze the flow of blood in the vessels. Most of the branches of Badr Al Samaa have installation of two to three ultrasonography units each with two specialized doctors dedicated to performing the scan.

CT Scan
CT scan or computed axial tomography creates three dimensional image of the human body from a series of X-ray images.  CT produces a volume of data which can be manipulated, through a process known as "windowing", in order to demonstrate various bodily structures based on their ability to block the X-ray beam.  We perform CT studies such as of the brain, abdomen, lungs, joints and sinuses.

MRI Scan
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses a powerful magnetic field to align the magnetization of atoms in the body, and radio frequency fields and complex mathematical algorithms to develop images of the human body. Unlike CT scans or traditional X-rays, MRI uses no ionizing radiation. We perform MRI of brain, spine, abdomen, pelvis, joints, MRCP and also MR angiography for visualizing the blood vessels. Our MRI unit is open, so the patient feels more comfortable while performing the investigation.

Bone Densitometry
Bone density scanning is an enhanced form of x-ray technology that is used to measure bone loss. Bone density testing is strongly recommended if you are a post-menopausal woman and not taking estrogen, are a man with clinical conditions associated with bone loss, use medications that are known to cause bone loss, have type 1  diabetes, liver disease, kidney disease or a family history of osteoporosis,  have a thyroid or parathyroid condition or experienced a fracture after only mild trauma.

Mammography
Mammography is the process of using low-dose amplitude-X-rays to examine the human breast and is used as a diagnostic and a screening tool. Mammography along with physical breast examination is the modality of choice for screening for early breast cancer. Our mammography’s are performed by well trained female technicians and reported by female doctors specialized in the field. The current recommendation in the west is for screening mammography, with or without clinical breast examination, every 2 years for women aged 50 to 74.

CT scan, MRI, Mammography and Bone densitometry are available only in    Ruwi branch.
