Urological problems are common in Oman, particularly stone diseases. This is due to hot climate and dietary habits. Hence, we receive 30-35 patients per day. Renal stones, prostatic enlargement, stricture urethra and impotence are some of the most common urinary problems in this part of the world. Majority of these problems are being treated here endospically i.e. without cutting the body. Apart from open surgical procedures, various endoscopic procedures like TURP, Ureteroscopy, cystolitholapaxy, also being done in this department. Most recently, we conducted a Continuing Medical Education Programme on management of BPH, which was well attended by large number of medical practitioners
People from far places like Salalah and Sur also coming here for treatment. Most of these patients, though, are in dire need of immediate treatment but could not afford same in other private sector hospitals in view of the high costs. However, since we started this department we have made it affordable to common people at a very competitive price.
We have ESWL machine to treat the renal stone disease. This helps us to treat those who are suffering from such problems. Our highly qualified doctors equipped with ultra modern equipments enable us to clear almost all cases without referring to anywhere else
The department of urology is functioning since two years and is headed by Dr. Eddu. S. Srinath and assisted by Dr. J.M.Bernadine. Within a short span of time, the department acquired modern endoscopic instruments to treat the lower urinary tract disorders. We also acquired uroflometer to detect obstruction in the lower urinary tract.
