The Department of Ophthalmology at Badr Al Samaa Polyclinic has been functioning since the time the institution started. It offers comprehensive ophthalmic care at the primary and emergency level. From a humble beginning, it has blossomed to an established ophthalmic care center in the private sector. It is equipped with all the necessary machineries to diagnose ophthalmic diseases pertaining to both the anterior and posterior segment. From the very beginning, the people in the locality utilised the services but with in a short period of time, more and more referrals started coming in from the interior areas for ophthalmic services.

Shortly after the department started, the institution opened an optical showroom offering all optical services and sale of spectacles and contact lens. This has been a valuable asset to the institution and the people since spectacles are dispensed with a guarantee on the power and the fitting and at a very reasonable cost, comparable with that anywhere in the region.

At present we have operating facilities also. Arrangements are in hand to add more equipments to provide much wider case management and surgical facilities in the future. Furnishing the department with equipment necessary for detailed posterior segment evaluation is also on the cards. The institution aims at having an ophthalmology department offering inpatient and outpatient services for the medical and surgical management of all ophthalmic diseases in the near future, The department of Ophthalmology is headed by Dr.Manoj Jacob and assisted by Dr.Sunil Kuruvila and Dr.Liby Joseph. To meet the increasing demand two more doctors will join by the end of Q1-2007.
