Gynaecology and
Obstetrics Department at Badr Al Samaa Polyclinic is a great relief to
thousands of expatriates as well as nationals in the Sultanate. The highly
qualified doctors practicing here and 24 hrs service enabled the department
to be the best in the Sultanate.
Since the beginning
there has been a considerable progress in this department with respect to
the number of deliveries and surgeries undertaken. There has been steady
growth in the number of deliveries and presently there are around 125
deliveries per month.
Nursing staff who are
well trained and pleasing in conduct increases the efficiency of this
department. Future plans are to
start childbirth classes which would include a total program of exercises
not only for pregnancy but also for birth, recovery and care of the infant.
Through these classes women can strengthen parts of bodies where weakness
may cause tension and pain to the legs, the lower back and the shoulder
region.
To cater to this
increase in number of patient the labour room complex has been expanded so
as to accommodate more number of patients. Facilities for continuous fetal
monitoring of all patients are present which helps to identify the risk. We
can prepare for labour by improving body and awareness, endurance and
flexibility as well as increasing muscle control in the pelvic region
through regular checkup and care.
There are also plans to
start yoga classes for pregnant patients. Yoga helps to make the patients
physically healthy and emotionally well balanced and has a dramatic effect
on increasing the overall well being and attitude. The people of Oman
entrusted their faith and confidence in our doctors and it encouraged them
to improve the existing facilities and to provides the patients the best
service. The Gynaecology
Department is headed by Dr.Geeta Damodaran, and assisted by Dr.Mary Meritta
Periera, Dr.Nisha Nambiar and Dr. Bindhu Sudhir, Dr.Qabas, Dr.Kausalya.
